Preventing Illegal Working

Under the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006 it is a criminal offence to employ anyone who does not have the right to work in the UK. The Maximum civil penalty for illegally employing an immigrant is £20,000

Employers are therefore required to check that all successful applicants have the right to work in the UK, relevant copies of documents need to be recorded on file.
